Create Class 1 Biosolids
Biosolids dryers are designed to reduce the moisture content of treated sewage sludge, transforming it into a dry, manageable product for disposal or reuse. Whether you’re in municipal wastewater treatment or industrial sludge management, a biosolids dryer increases efficiency, reduces hauling costs, and minimizes odor and pathogen risks.
✅ Handles municipal sludge, industrial sludge, and wastewater biosolids
✅ Compatible with centrifuges, belt presses, and filter presses
✅ Designed for energy efficiency and compliance with EPA regulations

After processing through a Met-Chem biosolids dryer, dewatered sludge cake can be transformed into a dry, granular material with as little as 10% moisture (90% solids). The final product is typically similar in consistency to coffee grounds or cat litter, making it significantly easier to handle, store, and transport compared to wet cake. This dramatic reduction in moisture not only lowers disposal and hauling costs but also creates a more stable material that can support beneficial reuse applications, including use as a soil amendment or fuel source depending on the project requirements

Dewatered biosolids cake can vary widely in moisture content, but in this lab-tested example, the incoming material started at approximately 70% water and 30% solids. After processing through a Met-Chem biosolids sludge dryer, the final product was reduced to approximately 10% moisture (90% solids). The result is a dry, granular material similar in consistency to coffee grounds or cat litter, making it significantly easier to handle, store, and transport. This level of drying can dramatically reduce hauling costs, improve material stability, and support beneficial reuse options such as land application or fuel use, depending on the specific project requirements
This video shows real biosolids drying results, transforming dewatered sludge cake from approximately 70% water to a dry granular product at 10% moisture using a Met-Chem biosolids dryer.

Before drying biosolids, many facilities use a lamella clarifier to remove free water and solids. Learn more about Parkson lamella clarifier systems and replacement options.
